Personal Details

Born and raised in London, Verona is committed to her family and also serves as a trustee for Towards Zero Foundation and as a judge for the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards.

Medical & Surgical Training

Verona graduated as a doctor from Imperial College School of Medicine, London in 2000. During her training she undertook a BSc in Biological and Clinical Sciences where her project focused on the markers of surgical stress in cases of Perioperative Hypothermia. She went on to complete Core Surgical Training on the Barts and the Royal London Surgical Rotation.

Verona completed her Specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Rotation, where she worked in hospitals including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Barts and the Royal London Hospitals. During her training she worked as a Clinical fellow at the Beit CURE International Hospital, in Blantyre, Malawi. She was awarded her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2014 and entered onto the GMC Specialist Register.

She has been post CCT -fellowship trained in Upper Limb Surgery at the Royal Free Hospital and Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgery at Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospital, Surrey.

In 2018, Verona was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

She has published peer-reviewed articles on chronic haematogenous osteomyelitis in children and has also co-authored articles related to shoulder surgery.

During her training she also completed an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine focusing her dissertation on vehicle safety strategy in the prevention of road traffic trauma.
