London Sports Orthopaedics consultants are forever thankful for the incredible physiotherapy and rehabilitation teams who help their patients.
It is not only city patients with neck pain from too much computer use, or ankle sprains from overdoing that half marathon on the weekend, that LSO consultants see. Patients with incredibly complex trauma also present at LSO and require input for several body parts. Here team work is essential, not only between the LSO consultant team members. The rehabilitation plan involves so much more than that – LSO’s physiotherapy and medical partners are vital in the ‘team’ working and communicating together for best patient outcomes.
In May 2017, LSO’s consultants were joined by Nell Mead, Director at Nell Mead Physiotherapy [pictured below] and Helen Murawska (Head of Performance and Rehabilitation Therapist) to present an evening of Trauma Orthopaedics to fellow physios, doctors and podiatrists at Andaz Hotel.
They were joined by the inspiring patient Richard who introduced the case discussion, described his accident – see blog title – and outlined his multiple injuries and the management by “Team Rich”. In the final Q&A Panel Richard shared some of his goals to help others facing the same situation as himself.
Nell and Richard have written up his journey for the Nell Mead Physio blog. With permission, we are proud to share his story with you here.
