Leading knee consultants meet to discuss complex tissue reconstruction

BKS Speakers

On 3rd February the UK Biological Knee Society held its second annual meeting, at the Oakley Court hotel in Windsor.

The BKS was founded by Ian McDermott and Neil Bradbury (knee surgeon in Bath), and is a study group for those surgeons in the UK with a particular specialist interest in complex soft tissue reconstructive surgery, such as meniscal transplantation and articular cartilage grafting.

The meeting saw presentations from Ian McDermott on the subjects of meniscal transplantation and Vivostat PRF biological glues, plus Mr Angus Robertson (Cardiff) presented on the subject of articular cartilage grafting and Mr Neil Bradbury presented on meniscal scaffolds.

The meeting also included 2 prestigious guest lectures: Dr Christoph Becher (Hannover) presented his experiences of articular cartilage grafting on the patella, and Dr Carrie Hartill have a presentation about the science of allograft processing and sterilisation techniques.

The meeting was attended by 25 leading UK knee surgeons, and was deemed an enormous success by all who attended.
